Our History
Confession of faith
1.Bible
The 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the revelation of Christ and the truth of the gospel.
The Bible is the standard for our faith, life, and daily living and is the sole canon of the Church.
2.Trinity
The One and Only God is a triune God, identical in essence, love, and perfect holiness, in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
3.God the Father
God the Father is the Eternal, the possessor of infinite power, wisdom, and mercy.
He is the Creator and the Preserver of the visible and invisible.
4.Son Jesus Christ
His Son Jesus Christ is absolutely divine, fully God and fully man.
He is true God and true man.
He was born of a virgin and went to the cross as a sinless and perfect man to redeem us from our sins.
His Son rose from the dead with a glorified body and became the guarantee of eternal life.
This Son, the Lord who ascended into heaven, poured out the Holy Spirit whom He received from the Father, gave Himself as the head of the Church, and intercedes for us.
This Lord will come again in glory.
5.Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, is the One who testifies of Christ and leads us into all truth.
Given as a gift to the Church, He causes the world to acknowledge its sins, then leads it to the grace of renewal and sanctification, produces fruit, and gives it various gifts for service.
The Holy Spirit continues to work in the world God has created, aiming at the perfection of the redemption of the whole universe.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit, unlike reincarnation, is a clear and certain power to serve God.
6.Salvation
The first man was created in the image of God.
However, sin entered the first man because of his disobedience, and as a result, sin and corruption entered the entire human race.
Those who believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ are justified by faith, reconciled to God, and made sons of God.
Those who are justified are furthermore given full sanctification through the infilling of the Holy Spirit and will receive the grace of glorification at the Second Coming.
Salvation is a gift of God.
It is solely by God’s grace. Therefore, salvation is only that faith that personally believes in and accepts Jesus Christ,
work that pleases God. Christ commanded the believers. Christ commanded the believers to “keep the commandments of the Lord Jesus Christ, which are to be observed in the church,
Water baptism (confession of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection),
sacraments (to remember the blood of Jesus Christ and His split body).
7.Church
The apostolic communion church is the body of Christ, called by God to confess Jesus Christ as Savior and to worship Him,
It is a community of fellowship of those who are called by God to confess and worship Jesus Christ as Savior.
The Church proclaims the Word of God and administers the sacraments instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, namely, baptism and Holy Communion.
The special mission of our Church is to proclaim to the whole world the fourfold gospel of the new birth, sanctification, healing, and second coming,
The Church is to serve for the perfection of the redemption of the world. The Church is commanded to spread the Gospel to all nations.
8.Apocalypse
When Jesus Christ returns, the dead in Christ will be resurrected, the living saints will be glorified, and the Kingdom of God will be complete.
Jesus Christ will return to receive His Bride, the Church, again, as He promised.
We believe this and confess the Apostles’ Creed along with the successive generations of saints.
Who we are?
Hikari Gospel International Church is a Protestant, Holy Spiritist church of faith. With the support of the local community and by the grace of God, we are celebrating our 15th year of existence in 2023.
Our church was started in 2008 by Rev. Medina Yamaguchi. At the time, foreigners were still few and far between, and his efforts to integrate into the Japanese community by teaching English at public schools and tutoring cram schools, volunteering at the Expo, and helping foreigners struggling with the various issues of life in Japan caught the attention of people.
Later, Pastor Yamaguchi graduated from a seminary in Japan. He aimed to form a church that would respond to the needs of the community, and while listening to the problems of international marriages and child-rearing, he gradually increased the number of church members through evangelism and worship services.
In 2010, after years of searching for a tenant, a landlord rented a building that was once the first Toyota convenience store in Misato, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, and church activities and language education began in earnest. 2016 saw the church move to a convenient location right in front of the Misato bus stop. Today, Misato Hikari Gospel attracts more than 100 people, both children and adults, both Christian and non-Christian.
As a church that responds to the needs of the local community, which has been our desire since the establishment of the church, we are developing language and music education ministries. In the future, we intend to establish a nursery school, day care service, home-visit nursing care, work shop, church school (free school), and other corporations to develop our ministry in the community.
These days there is a lot of dark news such as the declining birthrate, aging population, low crime rate, natural disasters, and anxiety about the international situation. We are anxious about the uncertain future, but in the Bible, the eternal bestseller, Jesus Christ tells His disciples, “Do not be afraid. When we live trusting in God, we can lead an unshakable life.
It would be wonderful if Misato, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, where we live, became a beautiful, caring town where the hearts of the people who live there are sustained by love, enriched, and speak to each other as its name implies, and if it became a good model community.
In addition to Sunday services, our church offers gospel music, hula dance, basketball, Japanese class, English class, music class, and volunteer activities that you can easily join. Please come and visit Hikari Gospel International Church. We welcome you wholeheartedly.
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
